Ever since Chevrolet came out with the removable top pickup SSR, I have liked that retro look. When they came out with the HHR I immediately thought of the old 1953 Chevy Panel that my Dad had. My dream was to get an HHR and convert it to rear wheel drive and put a Corvette engine and 6 speed in it for a nice street rod. I doubt that since the election and the bad economy that I will ever get it done but it WOULD have been fun. The 2010 Chevy HHR is considered a multi-purpose vehicle. There are two body styles. There is the suburban type with side windows and the solid side panel. The one I would like is the HHR SS. It is a sweet little turbocharged rocket that is a blast to drive and will flat get with it. I had a VW Turbo S Beetle with 180 horse that would flat go and this is not much bigger and has 260 horsepower. There are three engine options for 2010. The HHR SS is a 2.0 liter DOHC four cylinder that puts out 260 horsepower. It comes with either a five speed manual or a four speed automatic. I would definitely want the five speed. The SS has an optional performance package that includes a limited slip differential and Brembo front brakes with four piston calipers, Brembo linings and performance rotors. It also has 8 way powere adjustable front seats with power lumbar support. The SS has an AM/FM stereo with CD player,MP3 playback, 36 cross band station inputs, RDS,TheftLock, an audio input jack with USB port. There is an optional Blue tooth wireless technology for a select compatible phones. There is a Pioneer seven speaker sound system with amplified tweeters and a rear subwoofer. The SS has 18″ high polished forged aluminum wheels. The HHRs are rated at 32 MPG. In both the HHR panel and the regular HHR there are three trim levels. There’s the LS, 1LT and the 2LT. the 2LT has the most equipment and so costs more. The base HHR starts at $18,720 while a loaded out HHR SS will shoot the heck out of 30 grand. The HHR has 2 available engines other than the turbo in the SS. There is a 2.2 liter DOHC 4 cylinder with Variable ValveTiming and E-85 Flex Fuel Capable that is standard on the LS and the 1LT. It is rated at 155 horsepower. The 2LT has a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder DOHC with variable valve timing and E-85 capable that puts out 172 horsepower. The 2.4 is an option on the 1LT. A five speed manual is standard on all the HHRs with a four speed automatic optional. He 2010 HHR has all the latest safety features. It has a 5 star rating for both frontal and sidfe impact crash tests. HHR comes with side impact air bags and StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control and anti lock brakes. OnStar with the Safe and Sound Plan is standard for the first year and includes Automatic Crash Response with built in vehicle sensors that can send an alert to an OnStar advisor if you don’t respond. The OnStar Advisor can request that wmwrgency help be sent right away. A rear view camera is available that can save a lot of bicycles and maybe kids from being backed over. With the rear seat folded flat and the front passenger seat folded flat, you would be suprised at all the cargo you can get inside. It can be uip to 8 feet long and still fit inside. The HHR has a neat retro look about it and so is a pretty big seller for Chevrolet. You sure see a lot of them on them on the road. Too bad they don’t have an all-wheel-drive option.
